I thought those 94-04 shifters were somewhat made of leather. Guess not. I have the interior upgrade package so I have a metal shifter similar to yours. That shifter that burns my hand during the summer...

The 94-98 Cobra shifters are leather as well as the parking brake handle. IIRC the '99 and '01 Cobras have the same knob.

There are leather shifters available on SN95 GTs. I've never had an issue with heat with the metal shifter. The steering wheel is the one that burns my hands.

Thanks for bringing up the leather parking brake. I've been wondering if there's any sort of way to replace my plastic handle for the leather one. It also looks nicer. And ya, the 99 and 01 Cobras had them.

Well you're lucky then! My steering wheel also burns me. Did you take that plastic surround off in that picture?

I removed it because I was cleaning the interior thoroughly. As with any cheap used old car, the interior was disgusting. Now it is very clean.

Maybe I should remove mine and clean in there. I haven't ever taken it off. Does that area tend to rattle? Mine does every know and again.

Mine doesn't rattle. What rattle like crazy are the center A/C vents.

I don't know how that happens.... The plastic surround rattles easy because it's so loose. But I've never heard of the A/C vents causing issues.
